Accessibility Statement
Our commitment
KANDIKILLS LLC is committed to ensuring that PCOS Nav is accessible to people with disabilities. We are actively working toward conformance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA, which is the standard recognized by courts as the technical benchmark for ADA website compliance.
Current conformance status
PCOS Nav is partially conformant with WCAG 2.1 AA. We have completed an accessibility audit and addressed the following issues:
| Issue | Status |
|---|---|
| Color contrast: interactive pink on light backgrounds | Fixed — now 5.5:1 |
| Color contrast: white text on pink section backgrounds | Fixed — now 5.9:1 |
| Skip navigation link for keyboard users | Fixed — added |
| Main content landmark (<main>) | Fixed — added |
| Navigation ARIA label | Fixed — added |
| Decorative elements hidden from screen readers | Fixed — aria-hidden added |
| Scrolling ticker respects prefers-reduced-motion | Fixed — animation paused |
| Visible focus indicators for keyboard navigation | Fixed — custom :focus-visible styles |
| Semantic HTML (landmarks, lists, blockquotes, articles) | Fixed — added throughout |
| Language declared on HTML element | Pass — lang="en" |
| Heading hierarchy | Pass — h1 → h2 → h3 |
| All links have descriptive text | Pass |
Known limitations
The following items are on our active remediation list:
- In-app form labels — quiz inputs and lab entry fields in the app are being audited for label associations and ARIA descriptions.
- Modal focus management — the medical disclaimer modal is being updated to trap focus and return focus correctly on close.
- ARIA live regions — dynamic content changes in the app (quiz results, lab decode output) will be announced to screen readers via live regions.
We expect to address these in-app items in an upcoming release.
Technical approach
PCOS Nav uses semantic HTML5, WCAG 2.1 AA color contrast ratios, ARIA landmarks and labels, and respects user OS-level accessibility preferences including prefers-reduced-motion. No accessibility overlay or third-party widget is used — we fix issues in the code directly.
